November is a lot of things. It is National Adoption Awareness Month, Child Safety Protection Month, International Drum Month
It is also National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo, which encourages participants to write a 50,000 words novel in one month by writing every day.
Out of that grew National Blog Posting Month, or NaBloPoMo. That means 30 blogs posts in the month of November.
To be honest, that scares me. A lot.
And that’s one of the reasons I’m doing it. I feel like doing something that scares you is healthy as long as it doesn’t involve jumping off something (or walking a tightrope between high rises and above the Chicago River like Nic Walenda plans to do in Chicago tomorrow). Since it doesn’t appear that I’m likely to get over my fear of heights any time soon, I figured I should conquer this one, where the risks are pretty low, comparatively.
I’m busy, especially this month, but so is everyone else. It’s been a while since I heard anyone says “I have gobs of free time and no idea what to do with it.” (I would like to go on record as saying I wouldn’t object to moving NoBloPoMo to January. Frankly, I would say February but that just makes me look like a slacker.)
I’m hoping that National Blog Posting Month will help keep me focused and help me become a better writer. I love writing, it’s one of my favorite things, and feel like I can do it better here at Mom Factually. My other writing projects, including at Tween Us, Chicago Parent and some freelance work keep me busy, and they certainly will do so in November, but this space is important and it’s time for it to become a priority.
November is also National Sleep Comfort Month, which means I should spend some quality time with my pillow and practice getting good rest at night, right? My goal is that those two goals may be mutually exclusive, but I certainly hope not.
See you tomorrow!

Yes, MUCH lower risk than Nick Wallenda’s venture. 🙂
Glad you’re in, and I look forward to reading you all month long! (I mean, I already WAS reading you but…you know…)

Thanks so much, Melisa! And yes, I know, but it’s also great to hear, too 🙂
