More than 4 million babies are born in the United States each year and trends have emerged as to when and what dates those babies make their appearances. Here are some interesting stats on birth dates in the United States. If it seems like your little ones are getting invited to lots of birthday parties lately, it is not your imagination. Rather, it is the celebratory consequence of the most common birth month.
What is the most common birth month?
September. The next month popular months are August, June, and July.
Anyone else think it’s not a coincidence that September is nine full months after the holiday season?
What is the most common astrological sign?
Virgo is the most common astrological sign. People born between August 23 and September 22 are Virgos. Frankly, I’m a little surprised that the world isn’t more together or at least a bit better organized and cleaner given that fact. (Although as a Virgo, I’ve been told that I don’t live up to the high standards, so it’s possible that there are just a lot of slackers like myself out there.)
When is the most common birthday?
September 16, according to Harvery Kennedy School professor of public policy Amitabh Chandra, and later published in the New York Times. You can find out how common your birthday is here.
What birth dates are the least common?
December 25 and February 29. (Did anyone really think Leap Day was not going to be the least popular birth date?)
What day of the week are the most babies born?
Tuesday is the most popular day for babies to make their entrance into the world, followed by Monday.
That’s a good thing if you follow the nursery rhyme that links attributes to the day of the week on which the child is born, “Monday’s Child.” It reads:
- Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.
What is the average age of a first-time mother in the United States?
In 2008, the average age was 25.1. (The most recent data is for 2008. I’m sorry the U.S. Census Bureau is a bit slow on this one.) The average is up from 1970, whien it was about age 21.
