Black Friday has come and gone. Cyber Monday is half over. These days dedicated to getting your holiday shopping season off to a quick start, but we wouldn’t tackle such a project on an empty stomach. They all happen after we’ve stuffed ourselves silly on Thanksgiving, right?
What I’m most excited about this year, though is #GivingTuesday. It falls on December 1st this year, and is a global day dedicated to giving back. This year, I’m especially excited to be supporting No Kid Hungry.
They set a huge goal of raising $100,000 on Giving Tuesday this year. It’s a lot, but sadly, there are also a lot of hungry kids who really need our help to get the necessary nutrition to grow big, strong, and smart. In fact, up to one in five children struggles with hunger. That means the stakes are high, and I have faith that Team No Kid Hungry can meet their goal.
Every $1 donated to No Kid Hungry can help connect a hungry kid with up to 10 meals, so think of the difference that can make. No Kid Hungry works to ensure that every child in the United States has access to healthy food where they live, where they learn and where they play.
The best part? All donations on Giving Tuesday will be matched by Hickory Farms and Kettle Brand, up to $100k. That means we have the opportunity to raise $200,000 enough to help connect kids with up to 2 million meals – all from one day’s work. With your help, together we can make sure that every kid gets the healthy food they need to succeed, this year and beyond.
If you’d like to help make a big impact on December 1st, join in the conversation online on Giving Tuesday and help spread the word about #GivingTuesday and #NoKidHungry! And please consider donating on 12/1 at NoKidHungry.org/GivingTuesday.
I’ll be giving, and I hope you’ll join me. Because it’s time to end childhood hunger in America.
