Staying Kind Even #WhenImHungry

I have always wanted to say that I will work for chocolate, and while that is, in fact, completely true, this shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser for this post. As always, all opinions are mine alone. #WhenImHungry #CollectiveBias

I don’t buy into the theory that nice guys finish last. In fact, I’m certain that nice guys finish first. It may not always seem that way, but in my book, being a kind person is one of the best things someone can be, and I’ve tried hard to impress this upon my daughter. If I want her to be a nice person, I know that I need to be a nice individual myself. I’m aware that I have to not just talk the talk but also walk the walk. There, it however, one thing that trips up my goal of modeling kind behavior: hunger.

I have the “I apologize for what I said when I was hungry” sign in my kitchen, because it’s true that I say less than kind things when my tummy is growling and that usually happens right before dinnertime. Saying that I become grumpy is a bit of an understatement. It’s a little Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. That may sound dramatic, but when I asked my husband if it was true, he replied, “No comment.” So there you have it.

Hunger makes me a different person, not one whom I like and not one who is as kind to the people I love as I should. Quick pick me ups like SNICKERS® are key for both my happiness and that of my family, as well as achieving my parenting goals of modeling kindness.

I’m a far better mom, one I like a whole lot more, after I get something in my tummy. This blog is based on the idea that mom need info to be their best, but moms also need energy, and SNICKERS® provides that boost.

My latest favorites are the SNICKERS® Peanut Butter Squared. I love the combination of peanut butter and milk chocolate, and with the addition nougat and roasted peanuts, these little guys are especially good.  I think the bit of protein you get from the peanut butter stays with me and helps keeps me full and the chocolate keeps me happy.

I love the fun size fun size, so small enough to fit inside a purse or a pocket (or inside a plastic Easter egg, should you be so inclined this weekend). And they’re just the right snack to alleviate the hunger that makes me cranky. I think of them as my kindness enablers.

There’s a Walgreens near my house where I like to stock up on my kindness preservers. You can find SNICKERS® Peanut Butter Squared, SNICKERS® Extreme and SNICKERS® Almond. At my store, they’re all in the Candy aisle, also known as the land of goodness. You can find candy bars or go for the bag of fun size SNICKERS® Peanut Butter Squared that I found a few steps down from the candy bars.

Find Snickers in Walgreens #WhenImHungryNow that I’ve shared who I am when I’m hungry, what about you? SNICKERS® wants to see who you are when you’re hungry.  Enter the SNICKERS® “Who are you when you’re hungry?” contest by uploading a personal photo or video from your Computer, Facebook, Instagram or use the SNICKERS® Meme Generator to create something new! Voting begins at Noon on 5/11/15 and ends at 11:59:59AM ET on 7/15/15.

See more great SNICKERS® recipes and fun stories on the SNICKERS® social hub. When I went there, I couldn’t stop staring at the SNICKERS® stuffed peanut butter cupcakes. Just, wow.
