I’m a huge Trader Joe’s fan, and heading there over the holidays is particularly delightful. They have a little bit of everything to make the busy season a bit less stressful and a little more festive, without breaking the bank. Here are my favorite holiday items at Trader Joe’s. (And surprise – they aren’t all food!)
Peppermint Joe Joe’s
These are like candy cane Oreos, but better. So much better. One friend shared on Facebook this weekend that her Trader Joe’s was out of these and thus declared that “Christmas was dead.” While that’s a bit extreme, it shows you just how beloved these are items are. Rightfully so. They’re incredibly good.
If you want to get indulgent, try the chocolate covered Joe-Joe’s. I’d say it’s gilding the lily, but it’s really just adding awesomeness to the holidays.
Candy Cane Tea
I love hot beverages at the holidays, and I’m a huge fan of tea. This feels festive, and the adorable polar bear makes me smile. Added bonus: I find minty tea can be good for clearing up congestion that can happen this time of year. There’s also a black tea version if you’re looking for an extra kick to get you going in the mornings.
Cinnamon Broom
I never expected to hear a family member say, “Oooohhhh, you got a cinnamon broom?!” with excitement, but it now happens annually at our house. While you technically could use this as a cleaning implement, I just stick it in a corner and let the cinnamon smell waft throughout the house. It’s wonderful aromatherapy. I know a few people in different states who had fires due to candles in recent years, and this seems like a safer option.
Gingerbread Cake & Baking Mix
Holiday baking is great, but let’s be real. Dealing with molasses and the resulting icky, sticky mess isn’t fun. You don’t want your kids anywhere near that. But it is fun to have something warm and tasty out of the oven that smells great tastes delicious. This mix makes that happen.
The gingerbread recipe I loved from Martha Stewart used an unethical amount of butter and a crazy number of eggs. “I don’t want to spend the holidays dead,” is a great line from the movie Christmas Vacation that applies when that much saturated fat and cholesterol was involved. This mix is tasty and a bit better for you.
Mini Gingerbread Men
Because if you’re not into baking at all, or just don’t have the time, I’m not here to judge, and neither is Trader Joe. He’s got your back.
Tannenbaum Crispy Potato Snacks
I confess I picked these solely because they are shaped like Christmas trees. How cute are they?
Pomegranate Body Butter
I had never tried the body butter in the personal care section of Trader Joe’s until I received some of the pumpkin body butter as a gift this fall. It’s awesome. Light and not greasy, but provides the necessary moisture required in the winter. This will have you smelling good and looking not at all scaly, which are generally two of my goals when heading to holiday parties.
Pomegranate Body Butter also makes a great stocking stuffer.
