It’s time for another Stitch Fix! It’s always fun when the box containing fun clothing items or accessories shows up on my doorstep. This time, I requested colorful casual items for summer – items that are fun and not too dressy. I requested no shorts, but said I was up for maxi skirts, tops, dresses, and accessories. (If you’re new and want to know how Stitch Fix works, there’s an explanation at the bottom of this post.)

Stitch Fix Tip: You can request a stylist you like

Because I liked my last fix so much, I requested that Crystal, the stylist who put together that success, style me again if possible. You can make the request in the “Note to Your Stylist” box that appears when you schedule your next fix. It seemed like she had a really good idea of my style. I was pleased that Crystal was my stylist for this fix, too.

Didn’t Abraham Lincoln say something about not switching horses in the middle of the stream? I apply that philosophy to wardrobe building as well. If you find a stylist who “gets” you, hang on to her!

What Was In My Fix

“Holy prints, Batman!” was my first thought upon opening my box. I’m usually a devotee of solids and not very adventurous when it comes to prints. Part of that is being short – it’s easy to be overwhelmed by them.

Macy Printed Maxi Skirt by Renee C

"Macy

Crystal the stylist wrote in her note, “I think I found you the perfect maxi skirt.” That’s setting the bar awfully high but I did like this for several reasons, including that the print seems on trend but not overwhelming. It’s very comfy and covers a multitude of flaws

Pros: I like the print, it’s not too big; goes with several tops I already have

Cons: It’s a little long (I know, I know, it’s a maxi, but when you’re short, even maxis can be too long); dry clean only

Phelan Blouse by Collective Concepts

"Phelan

I have to say that I liked this blouse in person better than I do in the photo.

Pros: This color makes me happy, it’s comfortable and I liked that it can be dressed up or down.

Cons: Dry clean only, no shape and not terribly flattering

"Phelan

Encina Henley Blouse by Skies are Blue

"EncinaThe photos of this blouse make it look rather peach, but really, it is brighter than that. I tried to include a shot of the fabric to give a better idea of the color. Also, it’s very nitpicky, but rarely do Stitch Fix items have fabric that aligns on the seams. You can see that in the stripes that don’t match up on on this blouse.

Pros: Very comfortable and cool

Cons: It feels a little Halloween-y to me; makes me look a little pregnant (as you can see in the side view)

"stitch

Millie Textured Dress by Pixley

"Millie

My stylist said she included this dress because I had pinned another navy and white polka dot dress on my Pinterest board. It’s nice to know that she’s actually looking at that and I’m not pinning for no reasons. That said, the dress I pinned was a much smaller dot. My daughter said that this looked better in person than it did in the photo. Not sure what to do with that.

Pros: Really comfortable, love the interesting neck that eliminates the need for a necklace, washable

Cons: Makes me look really top heavy, too dressy for everyday wear so not sure I’d wear it much

"Millie

Phelan Abstract Chevron Print Short-Sleeve Blouse by Collective Concepts

"Phelan

I was really surprised to get two of the same Phelan blouse in one fix, and a bit disappointed. Part of the fun of Stitch Fix is trying out new and different items, so repeating one feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. My stylist is right that it was be “wonderful for work” if I worked at an office. But I work from home and while I probably should get dressed up and go to the library or something, I just don’t.

"IMG_9631"So, what do you like best? Please let me know in the comments what you think I should keep and what should go back!

How Stitch Fix Works

It is a personal styling service for women. You fill out a questionnaire that includes questions about your style, size, and budget preferences, what you want and what you don’t want. They use that info to pick out five items (tops, bottoms, dresses, accessories, coats, etc.) and mail them to your door, so you can try them on at home and see how they work with pieces you already have in your closet.

You have three days to decide what to keep or send back in the prepaid mailer they include in your box. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order, and that is charged whether you keep any items or not. If you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount on everything. You are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.

I received no compensation for this post. If you sign up for Stitch Fix using my referral link here, I get a couple dollars toward my next fix.
