My preference is to sit on the patio sipping something fun and frosty rather than work up a sweat in the kitchen. But tired of the same old margarita? There’s an easy solution to that problem! This pomegranate margarita Adding just one ingredient gives you an entirely new taste treat.<\/p>\n

The pomegranate margarita is both easy to make and seriously delicious thanks to the help of my two buddies, Trader Joe and Jose Cuervo.<\/a> It’s okay if you want to call us the Three Amigos.<\/p>\n

Easy Pomegranate Margarita Recipe<\/strong> (makes 2)<\/p>\n

3 oz. tequila, which is 2 shots (whatever you like but I used Patron Anejo and it was mighty tasty)<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix\u00ae , Classic Lime<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup Pomegranate Limeade from Trader Joe’s<\/p>\n

1 cup crushed ice<\/p>\n

Blend all in blender and serve in glass rimmed with salt and garnished with a lime wedge. Or just mix the liquids and pour over crushed ice from the refrigerator, no judgment.<\/p>\n

There is no right way one has to make this recipe. Adjust as you like to be more or less limey or pomegranatey. (Nope, that’s not a word, but I’ve been making margaritas, so….)<\/p>\n

A note on using a bottled mix:<\/em> Have you seen the price of limes lately? Holy guacamole, those things are pricey. Bottled margarita mix is far cheaper, and a whole lot easier than juicing a ton of limes. It’s really good, too. Not long ago, I hosted a gathering and served margaritas that I made with Jose Cuervo mix. I had wanted to make my own with fresh lime juice and the works. Family life happened, and when that plan went out the window, Jose came in. My friends raved. They requested the recipe. I sheepishly fessed up, and then decide to ditch the shame. They liked them, what does it matter? A good margarita is a good margarita.<\/p>\n

Tricks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

* If you want to make it a bit fizzier and a little more figure friendly, fill the glass 2\/3 full and then top off with lime sparkling water.<\/p>\n

* If you’re a pomegranate fan, add a splash of pomegranate juice.<\/p>\n

* Feel free to up the tequila.<\/p>\n

* To rim a margarita glass with salt, you can rim the glass with lime. To try something different, I dipped in the glass in a bit of pomegranate limeade. (I use salad plates for both the liquid and salt.) I worried it would make a sticky mess, but it did not. That said, it wasn’t a huge taste payoff.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Fact 1:<\/strong> There’s a lot of debate over the origin of the margarita, as I realized when researching this post. You can read more about that here<\/a>, and rest easy knowing that the first frozen margarita machine, invented in 1971 by Dallas restaurateur Mariano Martinez, rests safely at the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History.<\/p>\n
