I love being part of the Netflix Stream Team and sharing posts each month about what fun shows are streaming on Netflix. This month, however, my services weren’t needed. Instead, they asked my 12-year-old daughter, Megan, to\u00a0 share her opinion on Mako Mermaids Season 2<\/a>, which debuted earlier this month. They wanted her to have a chance to test the waters of what it\u2019s like to be a blogger.<\/p>\n

<\/a>I asked my tween if she was up for the challenge and she responded with a resounding, “Yes!” Her friends were fans of the show and were excited that she was finally hopping on board. Icing on the aquatic cake was that the good folks at Netflix sent her a Mako Mermaids Island Escape \u201cBeachBox\u201d full of fun items to get her in the spirit.<\/p>\n

When I was little and it was really cold out, my mom used to turn up the heat, let me wear shorts and we would do beachy things at home to forget about winter. Getting to use tropical lotion and paint my nails and watch Mako Mermaids felt like the same thing, but more grown up and with my friends. It was a good pick for tween girls, and we had fun.<\/p>\n

If you haven’t seen the first season of the show, don’t worry. You can watch Season 1 streaming on Netflix like I did, or you could even just start with Season 2. There are the two new mermaids who are new in Season 2, Ondina and Mimmi, so you can pick up with them. You can still follow along for the most part but it won’t make 100% sense so watching Season 1 is a good idea. What you need to know is that Zac was a land boy (or regular boy) who ended up in a pool on Mako Island during the full moon, and he became a merman on accident, which upset the other mermaids. The mermaids are trying to turn him back to a normal guy. There’s a new merman, Erik, in Season 2.<\/p>\n

I liked that there were lots of supernatural things happening in the show, especially when Evie becomes a mermaid. There was also some suspense.<\/p>\n

Mako Island is beautiful. The island shots were really cool. I really liked the colors, and that the fun items Netflix sent all matched perfectly. The blue water and the blue nail polish are both so pretty. I think the show is Australian, because the actresses and actors all have cool Australian accents. Also, I want to be able to go to the Ocean Cafe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
