The falling leaves, football games and pumpkins everywhere make me want to raise a glass to the season. I love apples and apple cider, but it gets even better when you pair it with caramel vodka. The caramel apple martini is an incredibly easy, two-ingredient cocktail recipe that’s an autumn taste treat that never fails to impress.

Caramel Apple Martini Recipe:

2 parts caramel vodka (my favorite is Smirnoff Kissed Caramel Vodka)

3 parts apple cider  (My favorite is the Trader Joe’s spiced apple cider)

Mix them together and shake.

While it tastes great and is a seriously good fall party in your mouth, what really makes this cocktail fun is how you dress it up.

Here are a few fun and easy ideas for festival fall presentation of the caramel apple martini:

* Rim a martini glass with cinnamon sugar. For this glass, I used spiced sanding sugar from Williams-Sonoma. I originally got it for egg nog but couldn’t wait until the holidays to use it. Turns out that it’s delicious on this. I would think that your own cinnamon sugar would be just as nice.

* Rim a martini glass with caramel and garnish with an apple slice.

Put a little bit of caramel dip (like Marzetti’s) on a plate and run the rim of a martini glass through the caramel.  If it’s thick, microwave it a few seconds, enough to liquify it a bit. (And really, 5-7 seconds is plenty. I overdid it for this one at 15 seconds, hence why it looks a bit drippier than would be ideal).  A little bit goes a long way.FullSizeRender-21The caramel really isn’t messy. It runs a bit when it is warm but cools quickly so the “drips” freeze right in place. It gives you a bit of caramel in each sip, which is delicious.

* Use an Irish Coffee glass and break out the whipped cream.  If going this route, serve it warm. Maybe not traditional, but it makes it feel warm and cozy.  Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon, or nutmeg if you really want to live on the edge.

This cocktail never fails to please. It’s a really easy one to serve at parties and it’s nice that those who don’t want to have alcohol can enjoy just the cider and with the fun garnishes.
